Long radius or short radius?
Long-radius elbow
For a standard 90 degree LR elbow, the centerline radius is commonly 1.5 times the nominal pipe size under the ASME B16.9 convention. The wider turn generally provides a more gradual flow change and is frequently selected where layout space permits.
Short-radius elbow
For a standard 90 degree SR elbow, the centerline radius is commonly equal to the nominal pipe size. It can reduce layout space, but the piping designer must consider flow disturbance, kehilangan tekanan, erosion risk and project restrictions.
Radius alone does not determine suitability. Confirm line velocity, solids content, tunjangan korosi, pigging or cleaning requirements, getaran, cyclic loading and available installation space. When the project requires a specific center-to-end dimension, provide the value or approved drawing rather than relying only on the LR or SR abbreviation.

Specify the required material certificate, heat-number traceability and marking. Certificate scope is agreed before order placement.

Applications and purchasing considerations
90 degree elbows are used in process piping, chemical and petrochemical systems, pengolahan air, power and utility lines, marine-related systems, food and beverage equipment and other industrial installations. The applicable piping code and project specification determine the final design and acceptance requirements.
For corrosive or high-temperature service, evaluate the complete service envelope: fluid composition, konsentrasi, normal and upset temperature, tekanan, kecepatan, kontaminan, cleaning chemicals and corrosion allowance. A higher alloy designation does not by itself confirm suitability.

TIDAK. Elbows also exist with socket-weld, berulir, flanged and other ends. This page covers butt-welding elbows; state the required connection type in the RFQ.
Can an LR elbow replace an SR elbow?
Tidak secara otomatis. Their centerline radius and center-to-end dimensions differ. Check layout, mengalir, loads and the approved piping specification before substitution.
