What is Copper Nickel?

Copper-nickel alloys are widely evaluated for seawater and marine service because of their characteristic corrosion and biofouling behavior. Performance depends on alloy, flow velocity, water chemistry, commissioning, deposits, galvanic coupling, and fabrication quality.

How do I choose between the listed Copper Nickel grades?

90/10 copper nickel, typically UNS C70600, is the common general marine route. 70/30, typically UNS C71500, provides higher nickel content and is selected for more demanding flow, seawater, or mechanical conditions after system review.

Can the same alloy designation be used for flanges, fittings, and valves?

The same alloy family can be used across a pressure system, but the ASTM grade designation can change with product form and manufacturing route. Confirm the forging, wrought-fitting, or casting specification together with the dimensional standard and pressure rating.

What should a Copper Nickel RFQ include?
