¿Qué es la tolerancia dimensional de la brida??

Respuesta rápida

Flange dimensional tolerance is the permitted variation from a specified dimension or geometric requirement. It can apply to flange thickness, diámetro externo, aburrir, centro, bolt-hole diameter and location, facing height, llanura, perpendicularity, and RTJ groove geometry. Acceptance must be checked against the standard, edición, tipo de brida, tamaño, clasificación de clase o PN, material/product specification, and any purchaser drawing named in the order.

A flange can have the correct nominal size and pressure class yet still create assembly problems if a controlled dimension falls outside its permitted range. For buyers and inspectors, the practical question is not simply “What is the tolerance?” It is “Which document controls this dimension, what is the nominal requirement, and how will compliance be verified?"

If your project requires dimensions or tolerances beyond a standard catalog flange, review our 316L custom forged flange to drawing page and provide the approved drawing with your RFQ.

What Does Flange Dimensional Tolerance Control?

A nominal dimension defines the intended size. A tolerance defines the acceptable variation around that requirement. Depending on the governing standard or drawing, the tolerance may be unilateral, bilateral, expressed as a limit, or controlled through a geometric requirement such as flatness or perpendicularity.

Dimensión o característica Por qué es importante Typical verification
Outside diameter and thickness Affects envelope, flange rigidity, facing relationship, and conformity to the dimensional standard. Caliper, micrometer, height gauge, or suitable dimensional fixture.
Bore and hub dimensions Influences pipe fit-up, preparación de soldadura, flow transition, and machining allowance. Inside micrometer, bore gauge, caliper, or CMM where required.
Círculo de pernos, diámetro del agujero, and hole position Controls alignment with the mating flange and whether bolting can be installed without forced fit-up. MMC, layout inspection, calibrated gauges, or coordinated dimensional measurement.
Raised face or RTJ groove Controls gasket or ring-joint engagement and the geometry of the sealing interface. Depth/height gauges, profile measurement, radius gauges, or CMM as specified.
Llanura, runout, and perpendicularity Helps prevent angular misalignment, uneven gasket loading, and assembly stress. Surface plate, dial indicator, straightedge, fixture, or CMM.

Which Standard Defines the Tolerance?

The governing dimensional standard depends on the flange system. ASME B16.5 Cubre bridas de tuberías y accesorios bridados de NPS. 1/2 a través de NPS 24 and includes dimensions and tolerances. ASME B16.47 Cubre bridas de acero de gran diámetro de NPS. 26 a través de NPS 60. EN 1092-1 addresses PN-designated circular steel flanges for pipes, valvulas, guarniciones, and accessories.

Do not transfer a tolerance from one standard, tipo de brida, rango de tamaño, or edition to another. A material specification identifies the material and product-form requirements; it does not replace the dimensional standard. A project drawing may add tighter requirements or control dimensions that the catalog standard does not fully define.

nota del comprador: The purchase order should state the governing standard and edition, tamaño, pressure class or PN rating, tipo de brida, frente a, tabla de diámetros o tuberías, grado del material, and any approved drawing or project-specific tolerance. A generic request for “standard tolerance” can be ambiguous.

Why Out-of-Tolerance Flanges Cause Field Problems

Tolerance deviations do not all create the same risk. A bolt-hole pattern issue may stop assembly immediately. A bore or hub mismatch may affect weld fit-up. A facing or groove deviation may affect the gasket interface. Flatness or perpendicularity problems can introduce uneven loading when installers try to pull a joint into alignment.

  • Bolts cannot pass freely through both mating flanges.
  • Pipe bore, weld bevel, or hub geometry does not match the approved drawing.
  • The gasket or ring joint does not seat as intended.
  • Angular or parallel misalignment increases assembly stress.
  • Site inspection rejects the flange because measured values cannot be traced to the acceptance criteria.

Dimensional acceptance alone does not prove pressure integrity or service suitability. Material identification, tratamiento térmico, propiedades mecánicas, ECM, condición de la superficie, and documentation must be evaluated under their own requirements.

How to Plan a Dimensional Inspection

  1. Identify the controlling document. Confirm the standard edition, purchaser drawing, and any project specification before measuring.
  2. List the characteristics. Create an inspection plan that identifies each dimension, nominal value, tolerancia, sampling requirement, and measurement method.
  3. Select suitable equipment. The instrument range, resolution, calibration status, and measurement uncertainty should suit the acceptance limit.
  4. Control the setup. Remove burrs and debris, support the part correctly, and use consistent datums and measurement locations.
  5. Record actual values. A report with measured results is more useful than an unchecked statement that dimensions are acceptable.

Preguntas frecuentes

Is there one universal flange tolerance?

No. The permitted variation depends on the governing standard or drawing, the dimension being controlled, tipo de brida, tamaño, clasificación, and applicable edition.

Hace ASME B16.5 apply to every flange size?

No. ASME B16.5 cubre NPS 1/2 a través de NPS 24. Large-diameter steel flanges from NPS 26 a través de NPS 60 are addressed by ASME B16.47, subject to its stated scope.

Can an MTC replace a dimensional report?

Not normally. A material certificate and a dimensional inspection report serve different purposes. State both document requirements in the purchase order when both are needed.

What should a custom flange drawing show?

It should identify the controlling dimensions, datums, limits or geometric tolerances, unidades, surface/facing details, material, revisión de dibujo, and any inspection or reporting requirements.

Need a Flange Made to a Controlled Drawing?

Send the applicable standard, dibujo aprobado, material, cantidad, alcance de la inspección, and required documentation. We can review the RFQ against the available manufacturing and inspection route before quotation.
