Kaynak Boyunlu ve Geçmeli Flanşlar: Yüksek Basınç İçin Hangisi Daha İyi?
Doğrudan cevap
A weld neck flange is generally preferred for critical high-pressure, high-temperature or cyclic service because its tapered hub and full-penetration butt weld provide a gradual load path and an inspectable pipe-to-flange transition. A slip-on flange can be appropriate for less severe service when the piping code, line class and project specification permit it.
Temel çıkarımlar
- “Better” depends on fatigue, temperature cycling, muayene erişimi, leakage consequence and lifecycle cost.
- Slip-on installation can look simpler but requires both internal and external fillet weld control.
- The weld neck bore and bevel must match the actual pipe wall.
How the two joints carry load
A weld neck flange uses a tapered hub and butt weld to transfer pressure, bending and thermal loads into the pipe. The geometry reduces abrupt stiffness change and makes volumetric examination of the butt weld possible where required.
A slip-on flange slides over the pipe and is normally attached with fillet welds. The joint is compact and alignment can be convenient, but stress concentration, crevice geometry and examination limitations can make it less attractive for severe cyclic service.
Pressure class does not make the joint equivalent
A Class 600 weld neck and Class 600 slip-on flange share a nominal class designation, but the completed joints do not have identical fatigue behaviour or welding details. Project piping classes frequently restrict flange types beyond the dimensional standard.
Check the design code, service category, owner specification and any restrictions for hazardous, hydrogen, buhar, thermal-cycle or vibration service.
Installation and inspection trade-offs
| Factor | Kaynak boynu | Slip-on |
|---|---|---|
| Primary weld | Full-penetration butt weld | Inside and outside fillet welds |
| Alignment | Requires accurate bore/end match | Allows insertion adjustment |
| Volumetric NDE | More compatible with butt-weld examination | Fillet geometry limits conventional volumetric examination |
| Cyclic duty | Commonly preferred | Project restrictions may apply |
| Initial cost | Higher component/fabrication cost | Often lower, but two welds are required |
Selection questions for the RFQ
State flange type explicitly and provide pipe schedule, karşı karşıya, pressure class and material grade. Ask whether the joint will be shop or field welded, which NDE is required, and whether internal crevice geometry is acceptable for the service.
For a technical quotation, include design pressure and temperature, cyclic duty, fluid hazard and any owner flange-type restrictions.
Sık sorulan sorular
Can a slip-on flange be used at high pressure?
It can only be used when permitted by the governing code, standard size/class scope and project line class. Critical or cyclic high-pressure service often favours weld neck construction.
Why does a slip-on flange need two welds?
The pipe is normally secured with an external fillet weld and an internal fillet weld, subject to dimensional and project requirements.
Is a weld neck flange leak-proof?
No flange type guarantees zero leakage. Gasket selection, kaplama kaplama, alignment, cıvatalama, assembly and operating conditions remain essential.
