Project completed

Export packaging was completed for alloy steel flanges covering F11, F22 and F91 grades, multiple flange types and pressure classes. The packing route combined dry surfaces, temporary rust prevention, rigid face covers, moisture control, separation and seaworthy crate bracing.

Delivery highlights

Machined faces and RTJ grooves received rigid, non-abrasive protection.

VCI or barrier materials and desiccant were selected for the shipping route.

Blocking and bracing prevented heavy flanges from contacting each other.

Rust prevention before the crate is closed

Low-alloy steel can develop atmospheric rust when moisture, salt or condensation reaches bare machined surfaces. After final inspection, the flanges were cleaned and dried before an approved temporary rust preventive was applied to permitted areas. Gasket faces, RTJ grooves and weld ends received compatible protection that can be removed without damaging the surface.

Barrier wrap, VCI materials and desiccant were used according to the packing specification and expected transit conditions. Wet components were never sealed inside moisture-resistant wrapping.

Seaworthy protection for handling and ocean transport

Rigid covers protected raised faces and ring grooves. Individual flanges were separated, blocked and braced so their mass could not shift into adjacent components during truck, port or vessel handling. Crate members, lifting provisions and package markings were selected for the gross weight and destination requirements.

Before closure, quantities, markings and heat-number groupings were reconciled with the packing list. Receiving instructions identify the need for dry storage, periodic package inspection and preservation renewal when installation is delayed.
