¿Qué norma ASTM se aplica al Inconel? 625 Varilla roscada?
There is no single ASTM number that automatically covers every Inconel 625 varilla roscada. For UNS N06625 rod or bar used as the starting material, ASTM B446 is the key product-form specification. If the delivered item is a finished stud or externally threaded fastener for general service, ASTM F468 may apply when its scope, dimensiones, alloy designation and required properties are explicitly invoked by the purchase order.
A certificate stating only “ASTM B446” confirms the rod or bar material basis; it does not by itself prove that the finished threads, dimensiones, mechanical tests and inspection meet ASTM F468. Buyers should define both the raw-material requirement and the finished-fastener requirement where both are needed.
ASTM B446 vs ASTM F468: What Does Each Standard Control?
| Specification | Formulario de producto | How it relates to a threaded rod RFQ |
|---|---|---|
| ASTM B446 | Nickel-alloy rod and bar, incluido UNS N06625 | Defines the material product form, heat-treatment condition, chemistry, mechanical requirements and dimensional provisions for the starting rod or bar. |
| ASTM F468 | Commercial wrought nonferrous bolts, cap screws and studs for general use | Can govern a finished externally threaded item when the ordered diameter, product type, alloy and service fall within the current specification and the purchase order invokes it. |
| ASTM F467 | Nonferrous nuts for general use | Relevant when mating nuts are part of the assembly; nut requirements should not be inferred from the threaded-rod certificate. |
| ASTM B443 | Nickel-alloy plate, sheet and strip | Not the normal product-form standard for threaded rod. |
| ASTM B564 | Forjas de aleación de níquel | Applies to forgings such as specified flange or fitting forms, not automatically to threaded rod. |
The applicable edition and any project code still matter. A purchaser should not select a standard only because it appears in a search result or because another Alloy 625 product uses it.
What Is the Difference Between Alloy 625 Calificación 1 and Grade 2?
The current ASTM B446 scope identifies two heat-treated conditions for UNS N06625:
- Calificación 1, annealed: normally used at service temperatures up to 1100°F (593°C).
- Calificación 2, solution annealed: normally used above 1100°F (593°C) when creep and rupture resistance are required.
This does not mean Grade 2 is universally “better.” The required condition depends on design temperature, governing code, mechanical requirements, fabrication route and service. El Special Metals Alloy 625 technical bulletin also distinguishes annealed and solution-treated material and warns that its typical property data are not specification values.
Do not mix standard limits, typical values and actual test results
- Standard requirements are the limits in the specified ASTM edition for the applicable product form, calificación, condition and size.
- Typical values in a producer technical bulletin describe representative behavior; they are not guaranteed acceptance values.
- Actual values are the heat- or lot-specific results reported on the material test certificate and any finished-fastener test report.
For this reason, a buyer should not copy a generic tensile-strength value into an RFQ without first confirming the controlling specification, diameter and heat-treatment condition.
Is a Fully Threaded Rod the Same as an ASTM F468 Stud?
Commercial terminology is not enough to establish compliance. “Threaded rod,” “stud,” “stud bolt” and “fully threaded stud” may be used differently by suppliers and projects. ASTM F468 covers defined fastener products within its scope, but the drawing and purchase order must still state the required configuration.
Como mínimo, identify:
- nominal diameter and overall length;
- inch or metric thread system, pitch or threads per inch, and thread class;
- fully threaded, double-end or tap-end configuration;
- thread production method and any required end preparation;
- ASTM material and finished-product specifications, including edition;
- Calificación 1 or Grade 2 heat-treatment condition where ASTM B446 is invoked;
- mating nut specification and material;
- temperatura de diseño, environment and governing construction code;
- inspección, pruebas, marking and documentation requirements.
What Should the MTC and Inspection Package Show?
Recommended document check: verify the material specification and edition, UNS N06625 designation, heat-treatment grade or condition, heat/lot traceability, análisis químico, required mechanical-test results, finished dimensions and thread inspection, and any project-specific NDT or supplementary tests. Do not accept a generic Alloy 625 datasheet as a substitute for the ordered material certificate.
If the order requires ASTM F468 cumplimiento, the documentation should identify that finished-product specification rather than only the B446 starting stock. If nuts are supplied, confirm their separate specification and traceability. Any additional testing must be stated before manufacture; it should not be assumed from the alloy name.
Buyer Decision Process
- Define the component. Confirm whether the purchase is raw rod/bar, a machined fully threaded rod, or a stud assembly.
- Select the product-form standard. Usar ASTM B446 for qualifying Alloy 625 rod/bar stock; evaluate ASTM F468 for the finished general-service stud or fastener.
- Choose the heat-treatment condition. State Grade 1 or Grade 2 only after reviewing service temperature and code requirements.
- Specify the thread geometry. Diameter alone is insufficient; include system, pitch, clase, length and end configuration.
- Define the complete assembly. Identify nuts, washers, coatings or lubricants only when required and compatible with the service.
- List acceptance evidence. State certificates, actual tests, dimensional inspection and traceability requirements in the RFQ.
Preguntas frecuentes
What is the ASTM standard for Alloy 625?
It depends on the product form. ASTM B446 covers UNS N06625 varilla y barra; ASTM B443 covers plate, sheet and strip; ASTM B564 covers nickel-alloy forgings. Finished fasteners may require a separate fastener specification such as ASTM F468 when applicable.
What materials are covered by ASTM F468?
ASTM describes F468 as covering commercial wrought nonferrous bolts, cap screws and studs manufactured from several commonly used copper, níquel, aluminum and titanium alloys for general service. Buyers must check the current edition for the exact alloy designation, dimensions and property requirements rather than assuming every nickel alloy product is covered.
Es ASTM B443 suitable for Inconel 625 varilla roscada?
No. ASTM B443 is a plate, sheet and strip specification. Threaded rod normally starts from rod or bar covered by the applicable product-form specification, como ASTM B446 for UNS N06625.
Es ASTM B564 the standard for an Alloy 625 varilla roscada?
Not normally. ASTM B564 covers nickel-alloy forgings. It is relevant to specified forged products, but it does not automatically qualify a threaded rod or finished stud.
Should a quotation state Grade 1 or Grade 2?
Yes when ASTM B446 is specified and the condition affects the application. Provide the design temperature and governing code so the required annealed or solution-annealed condition is not selected by guesswork.
