An Alloy 625 pipe end cap is a wrought nickel-alloy butt-welding fitting that permanently closes a pipe or header. ASTM B366/B366M specifies wrought nickel-alloy fittings, while the dimensional basis is selected from ASME B16.9 or MSS SP-43 as permitted by the piping specification.
UNS N06625 is strengthened mainly by molybdenum and niobium in a nickel-chromium matrix. It combines mechanical strength, fabricability and corrosion resistance over a broad temperature range. The final design must still use code-allowable stresses and service-specific corrosion data.
