Project completed

An urgent Class 1500 chrome-moly flange order has been completed for a process plant maintenance schedule. Production planning shortened queue and handoff time while retaining the ordered material, heat-treatment, machining, inspection and documentation requirements.

Project snapshot

Project status Urgent production completed
Material ASTM A182 F11, F22 and F91 as itemized
Flange type Weld neck, socket weld and blind
Standard ASME B16.5
Pressure class Class 1500
Size range NPS 1–8
Inspection PMI, UT as ordered, hardness, dimensions and marking
Application Refinery and petrochemical maintenance

Delivery highlights

Expediting changed production priority, not acceptance criteria.
F11, F22 and F91 items were segregated throughout manufacturing.
Document compilation ran in parallel with physical production to support dispatch.

How the urgent production schedule was controlled

The order was divided by material grade, flange type and inspection route before work began. Available qualified forgings and machine capacity were matched to the approved priority list. Inspection notifications and document review were scheduled alongside machining rather than waiting until the final day.

No material substitution was made to recover schedule. F11, F22 and F91 remained separate work packages with their own traceability, heat-treatment evidence and release records.

Class 1500 machining and release checks

High-pressure flange geometry places particular importance on thickness, hub, bore, bolt pattern, facing and weld-end dimensions. Each item was checked against the ordered size, type, face and ASME B16.5 requirements. RTJ grooves, where specified, received dedicated dimensional and surface-condition review.

PMI, hardness, applicable UT, markings and final visual condition were completed before preservation and export packing. The final data package was reconciled with the physical shipment.

Information needed for a comparable RFQ

A comparable inquiry should identify the exact material specification and grade, governing standard and edition, NPS, pressure class, flange type, facing, bore or matching pipe schedule, quantity and destination. For this project-news scope, the key reference points were ASTM A182 F11, F22 and F91 as itemized, Weld neck, socket weld and blind, Class 1500 and NPS 1–8.

State the required EN 10204 certificate type, heat-number traceability, PMI extent, hardness limits, dimensional report, NDE method and acceptance standard, third-party witness points, packing method and required delivery date at quotation stage. Early definition allows manufacturing, inspection and document schedules to be reviewed together.

Frequently asked questions

Does urgent production reduce inspection?

It should not. Schedule recovery should come from planning, capacity and parallel activities, while contractual acceptance requirements remain in force.

Are F11, F22 and F91 interchangeable?

No. Each grade has different chemistry, material condition and fabrication requirements and must match the approved line class.

Which details are needed for an urgent flange quotation?

Provide grade, standard, NPS, Class, type, facing, bore or schedule, quantity, inspection scope, required documents and the confirmed need-by date.
