Replacing an industrial pipe flange is a controlled maintenance activity, not simply a bolt-removal task. When Should a Flange Be Replaced?

Replacement may be considered after engineering review identifies loss of required thickness, растрескивание, severe corrosion, искажение, damaged sealing geometry, incompatible dimensions/material, or a design change. Why the Replacement Method Depends on Flange Type

Welded flange

A weld-neck, slip-on or socket-weld flange is attached to the pipe by a specified weld arrangement. Removal may require replacing part of a spool and executing work under qualified welding, heat-treatment, examination and dimensional-control requirements. A generic instruction to “grind off the flange” is not an approved repair method.

Can only the gasket be replaced?

Only after the responsible engineering/maintenance authority determines that the flange, bolting and mating components remain acceptable and approves the joint procedure.

Can old bolting be reused?

Reuse depends on the governing procedure, material identification, состояние, dimensions and acceptance criteria. Do not assume either reuse or mandatory replacement without the project requirements.

Can a higher pressure class be installed as an upgrade?
