Super Duplex 2507 UNS S32750 stainless steel threaded rod with high strength and chloride resistance for offshore, seawater and desalination equipment.

Description

High-alloy super duplex stainless steel

Super Duplex 2507 Threaded Rod

High-strength, high-PREN stainless threaded bar for offshore, seawater, desalination and aggressive chloride-service assemblies.

Product overview

Super Duplex 2507 threaded rod is manufactured from UNS S32750 ferritic-austenitic stainless steel. Its high chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content provides high strength and strong resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking.

ASTM A276 or ASTM A479 bar may be specified depending on the application. The finished rod order should control solution heat treatment, exact UNS grade, dimensions, thread form, surface condition, phase balance and any project corrosion testing.

High chloride resistanceHigh alloy content supports severe seawater and brine duties.
High mechanical strengthUseful for compact, highly loaded engineered joints.
Offshore suitabilitySelected for demanding marine and oil-and-gas equipment.
Verified phase qualityFerrite and corrosion testing can confirm manufacturing control.

Super Duplex 2507 threaded rod specifications

Material designation Super Duplex 2507 / UNS S32750 / EN 1.4410
Starting material ASTM A276 or ASTM A479 bar, as specified
Condition Solution annealed, rapidly cooled and descaled
Thread systems ASME B1.1 UNC/UNF/8UN; ASME B1.13M / ISO metric
Size range 1/4–4 in and M6–M100 typical; size and property review required
Surface Clean machined, pickled/passivated or project-specified finish
Matching hardware UNS S32750 or engineer-approved compatible nuts and washers
Inspection EN 10204 3.1, PMI, dimensions, ferrite and ASTM G48 / project tests when ordered

Final dimensions, tolerances, heat treatment, coating, testing and acceptance criteria follow the confirmed purchase order and the applicable standard edition. Availability depends on diameter, length, thread form and production quantity.

Why specify this material?

2507 is considered for chloride conditions beyond the practical range of 2205, especially offshore, desalination and seawater equipment. Nickel alloys may still be preferable in severe acid, high-temperature or complex mixed-chemical environments.

Engineering note

Super duplex performance relies on controlled chemistry and solution treatment. Exposure to unsuitable heat-treatment or fabrication temperatures can form detrimental phases. Specify ferrite, microstructure and corrosion-test requirements before production.

Typical applications

Offshore platformsSeawater injection, utilities and topside equipment
DesalinationHigh-chloride RO, brine and intake systems
Oil and gasProcess skids, separators and chloride-bearing equipment
Marine engineeringPumps, heat exchangers and critical deck assemblies

Quality, inspection and documentation

S32750 supply should retain heat-treatment and heat-number traceability through threading. PMI, ferrite measurement, microstructure review and ASTM G48 or project corrosion testing may be specified for critical service.

  • EN 10204 3.1 material test certificate
  • Heat-number and batch traceability
  • Chemical composition and mechanical properties
  • Dimensional inspection and thread gauging
  • PMI for stainless and nickel alloys when ordered
  • Coating thickness or surface inspection when applicable
  • Third-party inspection and additional testing by agreement
  • Export marking and seaworthy packing

Frequently asked questions

What is Super Duplex 2507?

2507 is the common name for UNS S32750 high-alloy duplex stainless steel with high strength and strong chloride pitting and crevice-corrosion resistance.

How does 2507 differ from Duplex 2205?

2507 contains more chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen, giving higher strength and chloride-corrosion resistance. It also requires tighter fabrication and heat-treatment control.

Which tests are common for 2507 threaded rod?

PMI, ferrite measurement, mechanical testing and thread inspection are common. ASTM G48 corrosion testing and microstructure examination may be added by the project.

Is 2507 always suitable for seawater?

It is widely used in seawater service, but temperature, chlorination, crevices, deposits, flow and galvanic coupling still require engineering evaluation.
